Calendula, also known
as pot marigolds, are
native to the Mediterranean,
though they also bloom
in Victoria, British
Columbia, on the southern
tip of Vancouver Island.
The brilliant and unusual
calendula represents
October birthdays because
its broad, colorful
flowers follow the path
of the sun throughout
the day, soaking up
all remaining sunlight
left in Autumn. October
birthdays are also known
for being warm, receptive
people who are easy
going and easy to talk
to. Celebrate their
one of a kind beauty
with the one of a kind
calendula.
Sometimes called "summer
bride" or "husbandman's
dial," because
it's flower head follows
the sun. In the language
of flowers, the calendula
means "winning
grace." Once considered
the most sacred of flowers,
in India it was placed
around the necks of
holy statues. Send a
bouquet filled with
calendulas when you
want to express contentment
and joy.
